Call For Applications: PHYSIS Spring School 2022, The No-Category Ontology. March 14-17, 2022. Complutense University of Madrid

PHYSIS: the Research Group in Analytic Metaphysics invites all people interested to apply to participate in the PHYSIS Spring School 2022: the No-Category Ontology to be held at Complutense University of Madrid from March 14-17, 2022. 

Keynote Speaker: Otávio Bueno (University of Miami)

Successful applicants will be able to participate in one of the following three workshops to take place after the PHYSIS Spring Lectures in Analytic Metaphysics 2022 on the No-Category Ontology to be given by Otávio Bueno between the 14th and the 17th of March, 2022:

– March 15, 2022: Categories and Ontological Commitment: the topic will be the question of ontological commitment to categories in connection with indispensability and dispensability arguments.

– March 16, 2022: Categories and Theoretical Virtues: the subject will be the issue concerning the relation between categories and theoretical virtues.

– March 17, 2022: Categories and Concepts: the theme will be the conceptual role of categories in ontology and metaphysics. 

Applicants should submit a 500 words abstract prepared for blind review. Please indicate in your email the particular workshop you are applying for. PHYSIS encourages especially submissions from women researchers, junior scholars, and underrepresented minorities.

Deadline for submission of applications: January 10th, 2022

Notification of accepted applications: January 24th, 2022

PHYSIS Spring School Dates: March 14-17, 2022

Registration 

Attending any of the events of the PHYSIS Spring School 2022 is free, but prior registration is required given the limited number of seats available in the room because of the current pandemic. Please, email Javier Cumpa (jcarteseros@ucm.es) for registration and seats availability.
